Couple charged with 27 counts of animal cruelty

THIBODAUX, LA (WAFB) -

Two dozen dogs were found living in a trailer with a family of four in Thibodaux.

Police say 24 dogs and three cats were living in the home with Archie, 43, and Melinda Horsley, 36, and their two kids.

According to reports, there was animal feces throughout the mobile home on the floor, walls, and the sheets of the children's bed.  The floors in the trailer was also reported to be caving in.

Authorities say the animals, many of which were malnourished, were taken to the Lafourche Parish Animal Shelter for care.

The children were allowed to stay with other family members.

The Horsley's have been charged with 27 counts of cruelty to animals, as well as cruelty to juveniles.
