Man shoots gun in hotel room, arrested on charges of rape and robbery

BATON ROUGE, LA (WAFB) - Baton Rouge Police were called to the Comfort Suites on Valley Creek in Baton Rouge early Friday morning after gunshots were heard from inside a room.

When police arrived, they found Jones leaving through a rear window in the room. Jones was caught after a short foot chase.

Officers learned that Clifton Lee Jones, 37, met two women, both 21 years old, at the hotel for what police say was an exchange of sexual favors. Reports say Jones became upset, pulled out a handgun, fired multiple shots and is accused of raping and robbing the victims.

Jones was booked into East Baton Rouge Parish Prison and charged with attempted aggravated rape, aggravated rape, armed robbery, aggravated criminal damage to property, two counts of attempt first degree murder, resisting an officer and illegal use of a weapon.
