Police: Tip leads them to armed robbery suspect

BATON ROUGE, LA (WAFB) - Police said information from the public helped them catch the man accused of ordering a shrimp po-boy and then stealing money from the register.

The Baton Rouge Police Department said James Ruffin, 18, was arrested Tuesday night.

Investigators reported an anonymous tip to Crime Stoppers led them to Victoria Drive, where they found Ruffin.

He is charged with armed robbery.

The crime happened at Rouls Deli on Airline Highway on March 17.

According to reports, Ruffin walked in and ordered a shrimp po-boy.

Authorities said while the worker was making the sandwich, Ruffin walked behind the counter, pulled out a handgun and took money from the register.

Detectives didn't report how much money the suspect took.
