UNION, SC (FOX Carolina) -

An Upstate man is out of jail after getting mad about the long checkout lines in Walmart.

Dennis Thurman, 53, was charged with disorderly conduct in Union.  He said he just couldn't take it anymore after he was made to wait in line to buy one thing.  He admits the fit he threw landed him in jail and he said he wishes he could put it all behind him.

Police said he cursed out a Walmart cashier and threw a phone card at the clerk after he felt he'd waited too long to be checked out.

"I went up to the cashier and it didn't appear she was waiting on anyone.  It appears she was talking, so about 15 to 20 minutes later she finally came over," Thurman said. "I told the cashier she would have done this 15 minutes ago and she said, 'Well you can go up front and they'll ring you up.' That's when I had a few words."

He said he threw his TracFone card at her and walked out. He said he has M.S. and standing for long periods of time is painful.

Thurman said he will head to court Thursday to work out a payment plan for his $500 fine.

"I shouldn't have lost my temper," Thurman said. "I should have been bigger than that."

Walmart said the police report said Thurman had only waited two minutes. They declined to comment any further.
