Coroner releases official cause of death for man pulled from river

WATSON, LA (WAFB) - The official cause of death for the 21-year-old man who died while tubing on the Amite River has been released by the Livingston Parish Coroner's Office.

The coroner says the man drowned. The investigation is still ongoing as officials determine what happened to cause Jacques Pierre Demare to drown.

Demare, of Folsom, LA, was tubing on the upper Amite River north of Denham Springs around Noon Monday when he went missing in the water. His body was recovered just after 1:30 p.m. that day.
