PORT ALLEN, LA (WAFB) - A status hearing was scheduled for Port Allen Mayor Deedy Slaughter Wednesday morning after she fired the city's CFO in February.

Audrey McCain, who is the Port Allen Chief Financial Officer, was fired after Mayor Slaughter said a legislative audit found significant deficiencies in the city's financial operations. A judge reinstated McCain to the position just days after she was fired.

During Wednesday's hearing, the judge decided to meet with the lawyers from both sides in closed chambers.

After the closed chamber meeting with Mayor Slaughter's lawyer and Audrey McCain's lawyers, Judge Alvin Batiste decided to push back the contempt hearing to July 31st at 9 a.m.

Mayor Slaughter's attorney's filed a motion for summary judgement Tuesday and Judge Batiste asked McCain to show cause on July 31 as to why the mayor's motion should not be granted.

McCain's lawyer plans to file a preliminary injunction for the judge to sign off on within 10 days outlining McCain's statutory job duties and responsibilities.
