Interim Baton Rouge Police Chief Carl Dabadie has only been in his new position for less than three months now. And so far, we like what we see.

The most controversial case to hit his department since he took over involved a family brutally attacked at a gas station on Plank Road. Only one of the three suspects in the case was actually booked into jail, with the other two issued tickets at the scene and sent home. That led to the outrage by many who heard of the story.

Chief Dabadie later issued a statement saying the decision by his officers was a mistake and an error of judgment. He promises they'll do better in the future. It's not always easy to admit when you're wrong, especially when so many people are watching. But, we think it's encouraging to see and we applaud the chief for doing so.
