(RNN) - Bomb squads called in to investigate a suspicious vehicle abandoned on the Brooklyn Bridge Monday did not find any explosives and have given the "all clear."

The bridge was shut down for about an hour on Memorial Day while investigators combed through the vehicle.

Several news sources reported that the SUV, abandoned on the bridge, did not have a license plate or vehicle identification number, or VIN.

A bomb sniffing dog was seen going through the vehicle.

Reports also said a small bag was next to the van.

All vehicle traffic was immediately shut down and the NYPD was in the process of evacuating thousands of pedestrians form the bridge, which is often extremely crowded, especially on holidays.

In 2010, a vehicle was abandoned on the Robert F. Kennedy Bridge, also known as the Triborough Bridge, which connects Manhattan, Bronx, and Queens.

Bomb squads were also called in to investigate, but it turned out to just be a stolen vehicle that had been abandoned.
