Tigers and Hogs already duked it out once this week with the Razorbacks coming out on top but with Saturdays tilt dropping to a single elimination format only 4 teams remain. Runs have been hard to come by in this tournament for the Tigers. Arkansas drew first blood in the bottom of the third when a pop up was dropped by Mason Katz in shallow right. After Hunter Newman uncorked a wild pitch in the 4th the Hogs had runners at 2nd and 3rd but Newman escaped the inning with a strikeout. LSU threatened the following inning but Alex Bregman grounded out with 2 men on base. Top of the 6th Christian Ibarra slapped a single to left scoring Mason Katz to tie the game at 1. Ty Ross bunted on the next play advancing Rhymes and Katz to 2nd and 3rd respectively. Tyler Moore followed with a base hit to short. The razorbacks threw home on the play but Rymes was called safe and LSU took a 2 to 1 lead. Top of the 7th Christian Ibarrra laced a shot to the gap in left center that should have scored 2 runs but a base running error by Raph Rymes resulted in only Jared Foster crossing the plate for a 3 to 1 lead. LSU pitchers held Arkansas to just one hit over 9 innings. Christian Ibarra led the tigers offensively with 3 hits including a double in the 9th. LSU wins 3 to 1. The Tigers now one win away from an SEC championship and only with Vandy or Miss St stand in the way pending the final outcome of tonight's game.
