BOSSIER CITY, LA (KSLA) -

Bossier City police are investigating an overnight stabbing at a local motel that left one man dead and another jailed on a murder charge.

Police responded to a reported stabbing just before 10 p.m. Friday night at the Siesta Motel in the 2500 block of East Texas Street that stemmed from an altercation between two men who lived there.

Detectives say 54-year old Frank Bratton and 34-year old Ryan Hughes Hammett got into an argument in the motel parking lot that turned physical. During the incident Bratton reportedly went to his room, retrieved a knife and then went to Hammett's room and stabbed him multiple times in the upper body.

Bossier City Fire Department personnel transported Hammett to LSU Health in Shreveport where he died from his wounds. Soon after arriving on the scene police located Bratton in his room and took him into custody. Bratton was subsequently arrested on a charge of second degree murder and booked into the Bossier City Jail. Bond has not yet been set.
