SUGAR LAND, Texas – Lamar rode the momentum of a Friday afternoon win to a 12-2, run-rule victory in seven innings over Southeastern Louisiana later Friday evening at Constellation Field in the 2013 Southland Conference Tournament.
Southeastern (35-23) scored a run in the first inning to take a 1-0 lead and scored a single run in the third to tie the game, 2-2, but Lamar (39-19) continued to find ways to score.
The Cardinals, after scoring two in the second, took the lead for good with three in the fourth. A pair of sixth-inning runs and five more in the seventh wrapped up the scoring.
"Lamar kicked our tail tonight and there are no bones about it," coach Jay Artigues said. "They played very well. Our kids deserve better. If you watched the game, it was inexcusable."
The same two teams will face each other Saturday at 1 p.m. in an elimination game, with the winner advancing to the tournament championship game later Saturday afternoon.

Prior to the Southeastern-Lamar contest, Central Arkansas and Oral Roberts face off at 9 a.m. in another elimination game. The winner will advance to the championship game.
The championship game, which will be played at 5 p.m. and be available exclusively on ESPN3. The championship broadcast will be called by Chris Mycoskie, the Southland's director of television, and Greg Swindell, a 17-year MLB veteran. Every game of the tournament, which the exception of the title game, will be streamed live on the Southland Conference Digital Network, which includes Southland.org and the league's free mobile and tablet apps for iPhone and Android.
