SHREVEPORT, LA (KSLA) -

A store clerk is recovering from injuries after being stabbed during an armed robbery at a local discount store Friday afternoon.

The incident happened just after 1:00 p.m., when  Shreveport Police responded to a reported armed robbery of the Dollar General store located in the 8100 block of Line Avenue.

Police say a store employee was suffering from a single stab wound to the upper body when they arrived at the scene.

The employee reportedly was stabbed by the suspect as he stood outside the front entrance of the store and was taken to LSU Medical Center with what was described as serious injuries.

Police describe the armed suspect as having a thin build, wearing a green colored pull over sweat shirt with dark jeans.

The robber entered the store and demanded money from its cash register. A second store clerk who obeyed the robber's demands was not injured.

The suspect left the store on foot.

Detectives were joined by Crime Scene investigators in investigating the incident. Detectives found clothing believed to have been tossed by the robber a short distance away. Detectives say they also found money stolen from the store.

Investigators need your help to catch the person responsible for this crime.  Authorities urge anyone with information about this case to contact Caddo Crime Stoppers at (318) 673-7373 or on their website at www.lockemup.org.
