Neighbors react to deputy’s arrest

LUCAS COUNTY, OH (Toledo News Now) -

Veteran Sheriff's Deputy Paul Little was in jail Wednesday until he posted bond. Neighbors are shocked by the charges against him.

Ron Anaszewicz says he never suspected anything out of the ordinary with the man who lives just a few houses down from him, but 40-year-old Little was in court Wednesday, accused of giving his 9MM gun to a known, convicted felon, Kenneth Rodgers, as well as intimidation – threatening to kill Rodgers after learning he was working with the Lucas County Sheriff's Office on a case that may have proven Little was trafficking marijuana. He was also accused of filing a false report, telling Toledo Police his gun had been stolen from his vehicle.

"I don't believe that," Anaszewicz said. "No way, because why would he give up his career for that?...It just doesn't make any sense."

The exchange with Rodgers reportedly happened in Trilby Park. People living near there had their own reactions.

"I am not surprised at anything like that, but I surely am disappointed in that officer," said Lorrie Eckman.

Deputy Little's bond was set at $75,000. His brother, David Little, also faced the judge, accused of being involved in the conspiracy.
