Scottsdale is asking residents to help them battle cracked sidewalks, broken street lights, graffiti and other problems via a new smartphone app.

A new app called "myScottsdale," available free of charge for Android and Apple devices, allows users to upload pictures that show the exact problem and report precise locations through the device's GPS.

"The city has thousands of signs, lights, sidewalks, bus shelters, playground structures - things that break from time-to-time," said Dan Worth, Scottsdale's acting city manager. "We hope the public will use this app to help us get those problems fixed as quickly as possible."

After reporting problems, users can opt to receive follow-up when the city has corrected the issue.

The app marks Scottsdale's first foray into the mobile application arena.

To download to your smart phone, search for "myScottsdale" in the Google Play store or on iTunes.
