Knife-wielding attempted armed robbery suspect gets punched, leaves with no money

BAYOU VISTA, LA (WAFB) - Sheriff's deputies are looking for a man who got a little more than he bargained for when he tried an armed robbery at a tire shop Tuesday morning.

The St. Mary Parish Sheriff's Office said the attempted armed robbery happened at Chabill's Tire Service in Bayou Vista around 7 a.m.

Deputies said the suspect walked up to the victim, pulled out a small knife and demanded money. Instead of giving up any cash, deputies said the victim punched the suspect, who then ran away empty handed.

The suspect is described as a white man in his late 20s to early 30s. He is 5' 10" or 5' 11" and weighs about 150 pounds. He is also clean shaven with dirty blond hair.

Anyone with information about the crime or the suspect should call the St. Mary Parish Sheriff's Office at 985-384-1622 or 337-828-1960.
