Southern was eliminated Friday from the SWAC Baseball Tournament, falling to Prairie View 11-4.
Prairie View jumped out on the Jags early with a quick run in the first inning and two more in the second inning.
In the bottom of the second, trailing 3-0, Southern struck back. Brian Rowry singled with one out and after a Jose DeLa Torre walk and Sean Washington's flyout, he scored on a two out single by Harley Wiltz.
In the top of the fourth inning Prairie View's bats came to life again, this time with two outs. Greg Salcido doubled with two men on and Dominique Harris homered to left to give the Panthers a 7-1 lead.
The Jaguars answered in the bottom of the fourth scoring one run, but leaving the bases loaded. Brian Rowry, Jose DeLa Torre, Harley Wiltz and Jose DeLa Torre each singled but the Jags could only put one run on the board.
Southern added one more in the bottom of the fifth inning, Stephen Wallace singled and scored on DeLa Torre's double, cutting Prairie View's lead to 7-3.
But Prairie View added three more runs in the top of the 6th inning highlighted by Jeff Sealy's two run home run giving the Panthers a 10-3 lead.
The Panthers added one more run in the 7th inning and Southern added one in the ninth to finish the scoring at 11-4.
Southern played late into the night Thursday losing a heart breaker to Alabama State 9-8 setting up the loser's bracket game with Prairie View.
