Suspicious package found at Dothan Civic Center deemed non-threatening

DOTHAN, AL (WSFA) -

A suspicious package was discovered at the Dothan Civic Center Friday morning prompting calls to police.

Officer arrived at 9:30 a.m. to investigate what appeared to be a backpack left near a wall on the side of the Civic Center.

After evacuating the building, The Dothan Police Departments Bomb Team took control of the scene and determined the back-pack was not a threat.

The Civic Center houses several city offices. Employees were evacuated and bystanders were asked to leave the parking lot.

During the incident, all services at the Dothan Civic Center were suspended until the matter was resolved. Normal business operations resumed at 1 p.m.
