DORCAS, FL (WAFB) - Authorities said a Louisiana man died after being shot by his brother-in-law in Florida early Sunday morning.
The victim was identified as Thomas "Gerry" Rangeley, 56, of Gonzales.
The Okaloosa County Sheriff's Office said it happened at a home in Dorcas, FL around 2 a.m. Dorcas is about an hour north of Destin.
Investigators said Rangeley was shot once by Burton Todd, 51, who lived at the home.
Responding deputies reported finding Rangeley inside the trailer with a gunshot wound to the chest. The sheriff's office said he was shot with a .22 caliber rifle.
Rangeley was taken to North Okaloosa Medical Center in nearby Crestview, where he later died.
No charges have been filed.
The incident remains under investigation.
