Elmwood Place: Judge showed bias in speed camera ruling

COLUMBUS, OH (FOX19) -

The Village of Elmwood Place filed a motion with the Ohio Supreme Court on Monday regarding the case over controversial speed cameras.

The motion asks for Hamilton County Common Pleas Judge Robert Ruehlman to remove himself from the speed camera case, saying the judge showed bias and prejudice when he ruled the cameras unconstitutional.

The cameras have been at the center of controversy since being installed in September 2012, causing thousands of citations to be issued at a cost of $105 a piece.

A lawsuit was previously filed on behalf of drivers cited by the Village of Elmwood Place, demanding that the cameras be taken down.

The Ohio Supreme Court must now decide if Monday's motion has merit.
