Cincinnati State to offer courses for Ford employees

SHARONVILLE, OH (FOX19) -

Cincinnati State is set to offer an apprentice program for employees of Ford's Sharonville plant.

The school's Workforce Development Center (WDC) is joining with Ford Motor Company to hold 15 classes on the maintenance of electrical systems and controls for manufacturing equipment.

Organizers say participants who complete all 15 courses will be eligible to earn as many as 34 semester credits, which can be applied towards an associate degree at Cincinnati State.

"We're pleased to be able to provide such a comprehensive training package to Ford," said Dr. Dennis Ulrich, Vice President for Workforce Development at Cincinnati State. "The Ford Motor Company, and the auto industry in general, are vital parts of Greater Cincinnati's economy."

A total of 600 classroom hours will be taught, dealing with topics from algebra and trigonometry to circuit analysis.

Most of the classes will be held at the WDC campus in Evendale. However, some instruction will take place at the Ford Sharonville plant.

Cincinnati State is a technical and community college, offering more than 100 associate degree and certificate programs.
