BATON ROUGE, LA (WAFB) - The issue of marijuana possession is set to hit the House floor at the Louisiana Capitol Monday and one lawmaker is hoping to ease up on those caught with the drug.

State Rep. Austin Badon, D-New Orleans, authored a bill that would amend penalties for second and multiple convictions for the possession of marijuana and basically prohibit the use of the habitual offender law.

HB 103 would also allow for the filing of a motion to reconsider jail sentences in certain cases.

It is scheduled for debate in House chambers Monday afternoon.
