Metro officer faces TBI investigation for alleged misconduct

NASHVILLE, TN (WSMV) -

Officials are not releasing much information about why a Metro police officer had his badge and gun taken away amidst a probe by the Tennessee Bureau of Investigation.

The TBI said North Precinct Officer Gerald McShepard is under investigation for official misconduct.

A TBI spokeswoman said the 15-year veteran is accused of misusing information that he could access as a police officer.

The Metro Police Department is not providing any more details, only saying during the investigation McShepard will not have his gun or his badge.

That is standard procedure for this kind of investigation.
