As the LSU baseball team visits College Station, TX this weekend for the first time since 1989, here's a look back at perhaps the greatest accomplishment in program's history that wasn't one of the Tigers' six CWS Titles.
The Tigers took two games at the NCAA Regional on Sunday May 28 against No.1 Texas A&M (58-5) in its own ballpark by scores of 13-5 and 5-4 in 11 innings.
Hall of Fame coach Skip Bertman, Golden Spikes Award winner Ben McDonald, who won the first game and saved the second, plus his pitching coach Randy Davis (father of current assistant Will Davis) and outfielder Scott Schneidewind share some of the extraordinary circumstances that occurred to produce this extraordinary accomplishment so many LSU Baseball fans have never forgotten.
