FREMONT, OH (Press Release) -
Milan Post of the Ohio State Highway Patrol is currently investigating a 2-vehicle fatal crash that occurred on the Ohio Turnpike near the Fremont toll
gate in Sandusky Township Wednesday evening.
crash occurred around 5:30 p.m. Wednesday.
Douglas Rhoades, 33, of Fremont, was driving a Honda Goldwing eastbound on the
Ohio Turnpike, exiting at gate 91. The
motorcycle crossed over a concrete divider strip into the westbound entrance
ramp and struck the trailer of a 2000 Peterbuilt tractor trailer.
The driver of the tractor trailer was identified as Roger Tooley, age
56, of Kent, Ohio.
pronounced deceased at the scene of the accident. He was wearing a helmet at the time of the crash. Tooley was not injured.
crash remains under investigation.
Sandusky County Fire, Sandusky County EMS and the Sandusky County
Coroner's Office all assisted at the scene.
