BATON ROUGE, LA (WAFB) - Former Governor Edwin Edwards is taking issue with the current Governor's opposition to cut tax credits. A House of Representatives proposal would cut those credits by 15% across the board. Jindal says that's horrible for business and would force some to move elsewhere.
Edwards says the tax credits need to be looked at in an effort to get the budget in line. "My point is the legislature is very wise in looking at the exemption which costs the state billions every year," says
Edwards. "Trying to negotiate trimming some that are out dated and reducing some by 15 % is their proposal wouldn't hurt anybody."
Governor Jindal said on Tuesday that the house proposal would raise taxes on businesses the same as what was done in the 80's.
