BELLE ROSE, LA (WAFB) - A woman is in the Assumption Parish Detention Center awaiting her bond to be set after telling deputies she stabbed her boyfriend Monday afternoon.
Deputies got a call around 3:45 p.m. about a complaint of a stabbing at a home in the 160 block of Virginia Street in Belle Rose, LA.
Once they arrived, they found a 21-year-old man stabbed once in the back and once in the chest. The man told police his girlfriend stabbed him in the back and as he turned around, she stabbed him in the chest. He told police she ran out of the house.
The man was taken by Acadian Air Med to a hospital in Baton Rouge. He is reported to be in stable condition.
Detectives returned to the scene and interviewed 25-year-old Gwendolyn Simon. She told the deputies that she left the residence for a short time and when she returned her boyfriend accused her of cheating on him and they began to argue.
According to reports, Simon said she was afraid of her boyfriend and she picked up a long knife from the kitchen and stabbed him. She said "when she saw blood coming from her boyfriend's mouth, she became afraid that he was badly hurt and called 911."
Simon was charged with one count of aggravated second degree battery.
