What a difference a year makes. Bankrate.com this week named Louisiana the second best state for retirees. The report cites a great mix of low taxes and balmy weather as reasons people may want to retire here. It mentions the state's 30-year average temperature at about 67 degrees, is higher than all other states except Hawaii and Florida.
Last year, Louisiana was ranked among one of the worst places to retire, with Bankrate citing our crime rate. But, while the study took new factors into account this year, it still says our crime rate, among the highest in the nation, is the big knock on the Bayou State.
