CONSUMER ALERT: Thousands of Atmos Energy customers overcharged

BATON ROUGE, LA (WAFB) - According to Atmos Energy, customers who have their bills automatically taken out of their checking account or credit cards may have been accidentally charged ten times the amount of their bill.

In all, about 27,000 Atmos Energy customers were affected.

A spokesperson says they hope to have the issue resolved within 24 to 72 hours and will work with each customer to reimburse any fees incurred because of the mistake.
