SORRENTO, LA (WAFB) - A 16-year-old boy died after the car he was riding in went off I-10 and slammed into several trees Saturday.
The victim was identified as Gary Clark Jr. of Baton Rouge. The crash happened on I-10 West past LA 22 (John Leblanc Boulevard) in Sorrento around noon.
Louisiana State Police said Clark was in a car driven by another 16-year-old from Baton Rouge who doesn't have a driver's license. The driver's name was not released.
Investigators have not determined what made the 2006 Cadillac CTS go off the road. It then hit trees in the median.
Troopers reported Clark was in the back seat and was not wearing a seatbelt.
They did not indicate whether the driver will be charged.
The crash is still being investigated.
