BOSSIER CITY, LA (KSLA) -

Bossier City Police have identified the man killed in Sunday night's drive-by shooting in the Barksdale Annex neighborhood.

Police say 20-year-old Devonta Demarcus English was hanging out with 21-year-old Jermarcus Morris on the corner of Burchett St. and Wilder St. just before 10:30 p.m. when someone in a gray sedan believed to be a Chevrolet Impala drove by and fired multiple shots at them.

"At least one individual inside the vehicle opened fire multiple times, and the two individuals were hit by gun fire," said Mark Natale with the Bossier City Police Department.

English was struck in the upper torso and taken to LSU Hospital, where he was pronounced dead. Morris was hit in the lower leg near the ankle. He is expected to survive.

"He always was a goofy person, a funny person, a loving person," said Jasmine English, Devanta's sister.

"It was devastating, we can't sleep, my mom she can't eat," said Jasmine.

The family of English is asking for the shooter to turn himself in.

"Because we're hurting we need justice," said Curtis Davis, English's cousin.

No arrests have been made. If you have information about this crime, call Bossier Crime Stoppers at (318) 424-4100.
