Cincinnati State holds commencement ceremony

Cincinnati State celebrated commencement on Sunday graduating over 1,000 students.

The ceremony, held at Xavier's Cintas Center, kicked off at 3:00 p.m.

University of Cincinnati President Santa Ono was the featured keynote speaker. Dr. Ono, the 28th president of UC, arrived at UC following his appointment as Provost and Senior Vice President of Academic Affairs.

Honorary degrees were awarded to Elmer Hensler, founder of Queen City Sausage, as well as Dianne Dunkelman, a Cincinnati philanthropist who was the founder and former CEO of Speaking of Women's health.

The commencement program also recognized the 2013 recipients of the House/Bruckmann Awards for Faculty Excellence, Stani Kantcheva and Ryan Shadle, and distinguished Alumnus, Linda Pohlgeers, the associate dean for Cincinnati State's Center for Innovative Technologies.

Cincinnati State offers more than 100 associate degree and 40 certificate programs in business technologies, health and public safety, engineering technologies, humanities and science and information technologies. Cincinnati State has one of the largest cooperative education programs among two-year colleges in the United States.
