Doyline residents wait on Explo Systems to fix damages

Posted: Updated:
DOYLINE, LA (KSLA) -

Some residents, whose homes are damaged after the October 15th bunker blast at Camp Minden, are still waiting on Explo Systems, Inc. to fix the damage.

Gaitha Bryant's Doyline home suffered more than $12,000 of damage after the bunker blast. The explosion took place on the property leased by Explo Systems, less than three miles from her home.

"The explosion is not our fault, well I don't work at Camp Minden so it surely is not our fault," says Gaitha Bryant.

Bryant says her home was knocked off of its foundation, causing damage to her ceiling, bathroom, roof, and kitchen.

She has repaired some of the damage, but is still waiting to hear back from Explo System representatives.

She says after the blast, Explo System representatives sent a claim adjuster to her home to assess the damage.

She joined a class action lawsuit against the company along with other Doyline Residents.

Bryant received a letter in March from Crum and Forster, an insurance company on behalf of Explo Systems, that says
"Because a class action lawsuit has been filed that may encompass the above-referenced claim, we are hesitant to communicate directly with you…"

She says this letter was later contradicted by another letter she received in April, that says

"Since you are not a part of the Class Action we wanted to inform you, as we have informed the legal representatives of the Class Action, that Crum and Forster is denying all claims…"

KSLA News 12 reached out to both Explo Systems and Crum and Forster to find out more information on the status of these claims, but we did not receive a response.

"Hey we are working on this, and we are going to back to you, but they don't even answer the phone," says Bryant after trying to call Explo Systems.

There is an upcoming meeting for residents involved with the class action lawsuit on May 6th at 7: 00 p.m. inside of the Doyline High School Gymnasium.
