DONALDSONVILLE, LA (WAFB) -

Two people have been arrested for allegedly sealing a car and taking items from other vehicles at a Donaldsonville church.

According to reports, a Lexus was reported stolen from Ascension Catholic Church on the morning of April 25.

The Lexus was later spotted in a parking lot off Highway 3125 near LA 70.  Witnesses told deputies they saw a black Pontiac G6 with a Texas plate leaving the area.

A short time later in Lutcher, an attempted car theft was reported.  St. James Parish deputies say they found Erick Byington, 32, and Ashley Lee, 23, in the Pontiac with items stolen from the Lexus and six vehicles in Donaldsonville.

Byington and Lee are facing charges of theft of a motor vehicle and six counts of simple burglary of a vehicle.  Both are in St. James Parish Jail.
