Suspect arrested in Bayou Vista murder

BAYOU VISTA, LA (WAFB) - Deputies have arrested a suspect in the deadly shooting of a man on Columbus Avenue.

Charles Douglas Chandler II, 21, is accused of killing Wade Blackburn, 18.  Blackburn was found shot to death around 12:45 a.m. Monday.

Detectives say they found evidence of the shooting at Chandler's home when they executed a search warrant, as well as marijuana, counterfeit money, pills and drug paraphernalia.

According to reports, deputies were tipped off that Chandler was hiding behind a car near his home on Sun Road.  When they approach the vehicle, Chandler ran.  He was caught a short time later.

Chandler has been charged with first degree murder, possession of a firearm by a convicted felon, possession of marijuana, possession of drug paraphernalia, possession of a firearm in the presence of a controlled dangerous substance, monetary instrument abuse and possession of Fioricet without a prescription.

His bond has not been set.
