Judge rules BR doesn't have clear definition of family dwelling

BATON ROUGE, LA (WAFB) - The landlord of a rental home had a victory in court Thursday.

A district court judge declared Baton Rouge does not have a clear definition of a family dwelling.

The judge ruled the zoning ordinance, which banned unrelated tenants in a single family home, was unconstitutional.

The city-parish sued landlord and one-time mayoral candidate Steve Myers over a rental home on Cherrydale Avenue in Southdowns.

"Cherrydale Avenue will now stand with the Liberty Bell as a monument to private property rights and civil liberties," Myers wrote in a Facebook post.
