Judge overturns Baton Rouge zoning law

BATON ROUGE, LA (WAFB) - A District court judge ruled Thursday that Baton Rouge was not correctly defining a family dwelling.

The city's zoning ordinance banning unrelated tenants in a single-family home was unconstitutional.

The city-parish sued landlord and one-time mayoral candidate Steve Myers over a rental home on Cherrydale in Southdowns.

Myers posted Thursday on Facebook, "Cherrydale Avenue will now stand with the Liberty Bell as a monument to private property rights and civil liberties!"
