BATON ROUGE, LA (WAFB) - Multiple groups are speaking out in favor of expanding Louisiana's Medicaid program.
State Rep. Barbara Norton, D-Shreveport, and others are planning to meet on the steps of the Louisiana Capitol at 8 a.m.
The rally comes a day after faith and healthcare leaders also gathered there.
That group is pushing for Gov. Bobby Jindal to negotiate the acceptance of more than $15 billion in federal funding for uninsured, low-income Louisianians.
The Louisiana Legislative Fiscal Office released a report this week stating the expansion could save the state more than $500 million over the next decade.
