Vacuumed-sealed bags of hydroponic marijuana seized on OH Turnpike

LORAIN COUNTY, OH (Toledo News Now) -

A West Virginia man is facing felony charges after Ohio State Highway Patrol troopers seized four bags of hydroponic marijuana, worth $8,000, during a traffic stop on the Ohio Turnpike in Lorain County Monday.

Troopers stopped a 2013 Chrysler Town and Country with West Virginia registration for a following too closely violation on the Ohio Turnpike near milepost 134 at 11:29 a.m. Upon approaching the vehicle, troopers detected an odor of raw marijuana.

A probable cause search of the vehicle revealed four vacuum-sealed bags of hydroponic marijuana, weighing more than two pounds.

The driver, Mark Beard II, of Morgantown, WV, was incarcerated in the Lorain County Jail. He has been charged with possession and aggravated trafficking in marijuana, which are fifth-degree felonies.
