LOS ANGELES (WAFB) - The fifth-ranked LSU gymnastics team scored a 197.050 to earn a fifth-place finish Saturday in the NCAA Super Six Finals inside Pauley Pavilion.
It ranks as the second-best finish in school history, equaling the 2008 squad that also placed fifth in the Super Six.
By finishing with a 197.050, LSU (25-11) tied the school record for most 197 scores in a season with eight, joining the 2004 team that also posted eight meets with a 197.
No. 1 Florida won its first national title with a 197.575, while No. 2 Oklahoma finished second at 197.375 and No. 3 Alabama was third at 197.350. Host UCLA placed fourth at 197.100, and Georgia was sixth with a 196.675.
LSU will wrap up the NCAA Championships with the Individual Event Finals on Sunday at 3 p.m. CT. Rheagan Courville (vault and floor), Sarie Morrison (vault and bars), Maliah Mathis (vault) and Randii Wyrick (bars) will all compete for a shot at an individual national title.
