Foot-shooting suspect surrenders to authorities

PRAIRIEVILLE, LA (WAFB) - Officials said the man accused of shooting a woman in the foot when he fired shots at another man is now in custody.

The Ascension Parish Sheriff's Office reported Joshua Stephens, 19, of Prairieville turned himself in to authorities Tuesday night.

Deputies said Stephens and another man were arguing in the parking lot of Club Real in Prairieville Sunday night when Stephens pulled a gun and started shooting at the other man.

A woman was hit in the right foot. She was taken to the hospital with injuries not considered life-threatening.

Investigators added the man Stephens was arguing with had minor injuries that did not require medical attention. He reported told deputies there was trouble between he and Stephens in the past.

Stephens is charged with the following:

Attempted second-degree murder (2 counts)

Aggravated assault with a firearm

Illegal use of a weapon

Firearm on the premises of an alcoholic beverage outlet

Disturbing the peace

He was booked into the parish jail and is awaiting bond.
