BATON ROUGE, LA (WAFB) - Students at Westdale Middle School in Baton Rouge and their principal were so inspired by the Looking Fur Love dog rescue's mission they held a "Penny for a Pup" fundraiser.
They put jars in every classroom and classes competed against each other to raise the most money. Principal Sherry Brock then matched the amount collected.
The school ended up donating $1,600 to the dog rescue. An 8th grade class at the school collected the most money and received a prize.
"The winning donators actually get a visit from the Looking Fur Love dogs," said Leslie Hopes. "And, we have 'Copper' here today. He's about one to two years old, little wired hair dachshund and he is up for adoption."
"Tiffany" was a guest on 9News at Noon and we are happy to report she's been adopted since that appearance, along with several other dogs from Looking Fur Love.
