Suspect arrested for hit-and-run crash

HAMMOND, LA (WAFB) - A man accused of a hit-and-run crash in Hammond has turned himself in to authorities.

According to reports, Gary Shannon, 42, hit the victim on East Park Ave. Tuesday then fled in his vehicle.

The daughter of the victim says he was taking the dog for a walk when he was hit.

Investigators say Shannon turned himself in to police on Wednesday and told them he had struck and possibly killed a man.

Shannon has been charged with negligent injury and felony hit and run.

The victim is in critical condition.
