Legislators defer 2 bills related to TOPS

BATON ROUGE, LA (WAFB) - The first week of the 2013 session is winding down, but committee work rolls on.

Day four of the regular session of the Louisiana Legislature figured to be a big day for education, but two bills focusing on the Tuition Opportunity Program for Students (TOPS) were deferred.

One bill that did get considered by the House Education Committee Thursday is a measure that would require local school boards to enact policies that accommodate employees wanting to breast feed.

The bill was approved and will now head to the House floor for discussion and possible vote.
