CYPRESS, TX (RNN) – Dylan Quick, 20, was charged in the stabbing spree that injured multiple people on the campus of Lone Star College Cy-Fair. Donna Hawkins of the Harris County Prosecutor's Office said Quick was charged with three counts of aggravated assault with a deadly weapon.

Quick is currently enrolled at Lone Star College.

14 students were stabbed in the incident, four of the victims who were critically injured are out of intensive care and the rest have been released from the hospital.

"Quick has shared with us that he has had fantasies about stabbing people since the age of 8 and had been planning this event for some time," Sheriff Adrian Garcia said. "The weapon is more accurately described to be a razor utility knife that exacto makes some of. His victims appear to be randomly selected."

"Male on the loose, stabbing people," was the call the sheriff's department received.

The incident broke out at around 11:15 a.m. CT Tuesday at the rear of the Health Sciences Building on the Cy-Fair campus.

"We have 14 victims that we know of," Sheriff Adrian Garcia said. "Of the 14, two refused treatment and of the other 12 victims, some were transported to local hospitals. Two are in critical condition, four are in fair condition. Four were taken from campus by LifeFlight."

The Harris County Sheriff's Department confirmed that all the injuries are related to the stabbings on the campus.

One witness told KHOU about what she saw after the incident.

"Just a lot of blood scattered on the floor and a girl bleeding in the stairwell," Jackie Cristobal said.

Early reports said there were possibly two suspects, but police have said the one male suspect they have detained is believed to be the only one involved in the incident. The suspect moved from building-to-building, which may have led to the early reports of multiple attackers.

According to Harris County Sheriff's Office spokesperson Thomas Gilliland, Quick was wrestled to the ground by a student and was held there until police arrived on scene.

"As of right now, we have one suspect who has been detained. The school is currently on lockdown and as the investigation continues we will be able to give you more information," he said. "We can't confirm the weapon or motive at this time, but it appears the attack was at random."

Traffic flow is moving out of the campus parking lots, but is being managed by campus police and Harris County Sheriff's Office. The Lone Star College Cy-Fair will be closed for the remainder of Tuesday.

"It appears the campus is now safe, but we have people triple checking the sprawling campus for other suspects and victims," said Alan Bernstein, Director of Public Affairs for the Harris County Sheriff's Office.

The campus resumed normal operations Wednesday.

Bernstein said an all-clear will not be given until authorities are certain they have the situation completely under control.

This is the second major incident at the college system this year. In January, three people were injured in the college's North Harris County campus.

Lone Star College System is the largest institution of higher education in the Houston area, according to its website.

Lone Star College is about 40 years old and offers associate degrees at its six main campuses.
