The sheriff in Iberville Parish said his department and the community are celebrating a big drug bust.

Sheriff Brett Stassi said investigators searched the Sunshine home of Brandon "Juan" Wright, 30, and found 18 pounds of marijuana. He added the drugs have a street value of about $50,000.

Deputies also seized a gun, money counter, vehicles and other assets. It's a bust authorities hope sends a message.

"You get 18 to 20 pounds off Whiskey Bay, that's a nice bust," said Stassi. "You get 18 pounds off the streets of Iberville Parish, in a community off the East Bank, is a big bust. This, within less than an hour or two, this marijuana would have been on the streets of Iberville."

Wright was booked on the following charges:

Possession of marijuana with intent to distribute

Possession of a firearm by a convicted felon

Illegal possession of a controlled dangerous substance in the presence of a juvenile

Possession of a firearm in the presence of a controlled dangerous substance
