Woman arrested after theft from Catholic center

CINCINNATI, OH (FOX19) -

Jefferson County Police have arrested a woman after a theft from a Catholic center in Madison, Ind.

Detectives arrested Tracy Bryant, 42, on Thursday on charges of theft and forgery following a brief investigation.

Detectives say that Bryant went to the Prince of Peace Catholic Center on Tuesday seeking financial assistance. The center issued Bryant a check for $100.

Authorities say that sometime during her visit to the center, Bryant allegedly took an envelope containing a personal check written to another individual.

Bryant was arrested at her home on Thursday after she allegedly tried to cash the stolen check at a local bank.

In addition to theft and forgery charges, Bryant faces an enhanced charge of being a habitual criminal. Bryant is being held in Jefferson County Jail.
