BAYOU VISTA, LA (WAFB) - A man faces numerous charges after authorities reported finding a bomb and illegal drugs in his home Thursday evening.
Darryl Perry Jr., 24, of Bayou Vista, was arrested at his home just before 8 p.m. after a search by narcotics agents.
The St. Mary Parish Sheriff's Office said detectives were investigating suspected illegal drug activity and were given permission to search the home. Deputies said an improvised explosive device was found inside, so the home and neighboring houses were evacuated.
The Louisiana State Police Explosive Control Unit was called out to safely remove the device. No one was injured in the process.
Once the bomb was gone, detectives continued to search the home and reported finding marijuana, Elavil pills, steroids and drug paraphernalia. Elavil is an antidepressant.
Perry was booked into the parish jail on the following charges:
Manufacturing and possession of a bomb
Possession of marijuana
Possession of Schedule III (steriods)
Possession of a Legend Drug without a prescription (Elavil)
Possession of drug paraphernalia
No bond was set.
