City Council honors Reds 2012 championship season

CINCINNATI, OH (FOX19) -

Cincinnati City Council presented the Cincinnati Reds with a resolution in honor of their championship season in 2012.

"We are honoring you for being winners and a source of great pride for Cincinnatians, as well as for being great partners with the City," said Council Member Laure Quinlivan.

The Reds won 97 games last year as they clinched the National League Central Division.

Reds C.O.O. Phil Castellini, General Manager Walt Jocketty, VP of Business Operations Karen Forgus and Reds Manager Dusty Baker accepted the award at Wednesday's ceremony.

"Our family considers ourselves stewards of the Cincinnati Reds," said Phil Castellini. "And we thank you for this recognition."

During the ceremony, Quinlivan also pointed out the Reds have invested $2 million in Great American Ballpark this year, including the new Bow Tie Bar and suite renovations.

Cincinnati Council passed the resolution unanimously.
