BATON ROUGE, LA (WAFB) - The East Baton Rouge Parish School Board announced changes to four schools beginning in the fall.
Lee High, Belfair Elementary, Delmont Elementary and Mayfair Middle are the schools directly affected by the changes.
Lee will become a dedicated magnet program focusing on science, technology, engineering, arts and mathematics. It will continue to educate grades nine through 12.
Belfair will become a dedicated Montessori program and expand to include sixth grade next school year. Seventh and eighth grades will be added in the following two years. The school will also increase the current number of pre-K and kindergarten classes.
Delmont will become a dedicated pre-K and kindergarten center. Students who are now in other grades will be reassigned or have the option of joining one of the new magnet programs.
Mayfair Middle will be reconfigured and all students will be assigned to different schools or have the option of applying to one of the magnet schools available to them. The LSU Lab School partnership will begin with kindergarten through second grade next school year and expand to higher grades in the following years.
