BATON ROUGE, LA (WAFB) -

Alcorn State jumped out to a 3-0 lead with two home runs off LSU starter Russell Reynolds, but the No. 2 Tigers scored seven unanswered runs to win their ninth straight game, 7-3, Tuesday night at Alex Box Stadium.

Raph Rhymes connected for an RBI double to tie the game in the fifth and added a solo homer in the seventh to lead LSU (27-2) at the plate.

Senior Alex Edward followed Rhymes' double with what turned out to be the game-winning hit, plating Rhymes with a fifth inning RBI single.

Alex Bregman extended his hitting streak to 17 games with a double and a triple, and Mason Katz reached base in all four plate appearances with a 2-for-2 night and two walks.

Freshman Hunter Devall pitched four scoreless innings allowing just one hit, to earn the victory in relief.

The Tigers are scheduled to face Southern Miss Wednesday night in the annual Wally Pontiff, Jr Classic at Zephyr Field in Metairie.

Alcorn State (6-27) got a solo homer from Angel Rosa in the first inning and a two-run shot from Ashton Lewis in the second to give the Braves that early 3-0 lead.
